Botulinum
Toxin injection therapy is achieved by using Botulinum toxin Type A
which is a neurotoxin (chemical) produced by the bacteria
Clostridium Botulinum. The medication used to relax the muscles is
derived from this toxin, and when injected into a muscle it relaxes
them by stopping chemical messages being sent from the nerve to the
muscle. In high concentrations Botulinum is toxic, however cosmetic
use only requires minute doses to be used, and thus it is effective
and very safe. Botulinum injections are one of the most popular
cosmetic treatments in the world. Celebrities often admit to be keeping the wrinkles at bay this way.
Botulinum Toxin Type A is available under a number of Brand names, including Botox, Bocouture and Azzalure. Bexhill Cosmetic Clinic uses all brands of Botulinum Toxin Type A.
A consultation will establish your suitability for treatment and allow time to discuss the procedure in full. The treatment only takes about 15 minutes after an anaesthetic cream has been applied to the skin to minimise any discomfort. A very fine needle is used to inject the muscle relaxing drug into the appropriate area. Slight discomfort may be felt. The area may show slight redness and swelling, but this normally resolves in an hour or two.
How long will the effect last?
You may notice some change within the first 2 to 3 days but usually the full effect can be seen after 2 weeks following the treatment. The initial results can last on an average of 3 to 4 months at this point the muscles will progressively regain their strength. Further treatments will maintain the desired effect for longer periods.
Are there any side effects?
No serious side effects have been reported using this method of wrinkle reducing in cosmetic treatment. Rarely a temporary drooping of the eyelid can occur, but this will always resolve within a few weeks.
Botulinum Toxin for Grinding/Clenching and Square Jaws
People who grind and clench their teeth, usually but not always, at night fall under the category of bruxists. This condition can cause a lot of distress and symtoms to the sufferer.
These symptoms include, but are not limited to; headaches, aching of jaw on waking, damage to teeth and dental work, need for extensive corrective dental work, flattening of teeth (particularly canine teeth), enlarging of the muscles on the side of the face (giving a square shape to the face), and problems with the jaw joint (Temporomandibular joint - or TMJ).
Traditionally dentists treat this with a splint worn in the mouth at night, however this is usually a temporary solution and can still result in excessive grinding/clenching once the splint is worn.
Botulinum Toxin is a safe and effective way to TREAT this problem. By injecting precise quantities into the muscles involved in clenching and grinding it is possible to reduce the action of those muscles, providing much needed relief for the sufferer. These results can last up to 4 - 6 months, but more importantly, in temporarily reducing the muscle activity it is possible to reduce the size and strength of the muscle. This can result in a permanent change to muscle and a long lasting reduction in clenching and grinding, saving you from the pain and costs associated with this condition.
People with large masseter muscles (used for chewing/clenching and grinding) sometimes develop square jaws. By treating these muscles it is possible to change the shape of the face to look smoother and more attractive.

Underarm sweating
Excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis, is surprisingly common and is a condition that can cause a lot of emotional distress to sufferers. Sufferers often find that they sweat excessively on the lightest of activities and sometimes continually during the day needed to change their clothing often. They may find that they are restricted to certain types of clothing and are too embarassed to wear what they want to through fear of patches appearing on their clothes.
This sort of sweating may affect their interpersonal relationships and even prevent them from making friends or finding a partner.
Botulinum Toxin is an ideal treatment for excessive sweating under the arms. A series of injections under the arms will administer the product and then the effects can last up to 6 months and sometimes longer. For those with excessive sweating the sweating may cease completely or to a level that is comfortable/normal. This sort of treatment can be life changing, giving you the confidence to go out and make the most of life.

We would like to point out that with our 'Baby botox' there are no gaurantees as to the duration and we do not offer a top up service. Also for those who have stronger muscles or want a better result our standard dosage would be recommended.
